MUSIC LOVER

Music can inspire you, fire you up, get you down – and most of all it taps into your emotions and will send you wildly into portals of your memory where fleeting thoughts are waiting for the melodic recall. Once there, you may find pure sadness or pure joy but the ride music takes us on is always worth shot gun.

Below is a list of some of my mood music. What’s your mood music of choice?

“I’m gonna be okay…no matter what”
Erykah Badu – Mama’s Gun
Bob Marley – Legend
Amel Larrieux - Bravebird

“I’m angry and need to calm down”
Kem – II

“I’m angry and I like it”
Dead Prez – Let’s Get Free
Makaveli – The Don Kiluminati

“Love is in the air, do you smell it?”
Me’Shelle Ndegeocello – Comfort Woman
Mary J Blige – My Life
Marvin Gaye – Sexual Healing
Carl Thomas – Emotional
The Whispers – Love Is Where You Find It

You can use my categories or you can write down your mood music any way that you chose.

This is one of the most difficult questions I could ever answer. My musical tastes are all over the place, and my feelings are strongly tied to my music. I have to approach it from a what's happening now stand point; or what's in the deck right now... and it will give you a clue as to what I'm feeling.

For sexy, hip, cool, down-tempo upbeat, eclectic-I can't stop listening to this German cat named 'DJ Synflood'. His stuff is driving me insane I almost ran off the road yesterday (especially his BROWNOUT MIX)! check him out here: http://synflood.blogspot.com/

For low key, bright sunshine, storm clouds and tornadoes- I'm listening to 'Ticky's' new joint called 'Knowle West Boy' BUY IT TODAY!!!

For Sex, LOL! - I'm listening to BJORK's 'Vespertine' Album. But I might throw on some ghetto sh*t too. LOL.

For walking a nature path - I'm listening to Lonnie Listen Smith 'Visions of a New World'

For Roller Skating - Too Short 'Blow the Whistle'

For dancing - I'm listening to Soho 'Hot Music'

Cheers!

Man this is a hard one. If ya'll haven't figured out yet I'm very opinionated so this is gonna be a doozy narrowing this down. Shelli struck one hell of a nerve with this one!!!!!

I have an endless amount of music. I can go on for weeks!! I'm a lover of music til the day I pass. I'll be in heaven shaking a tail feather please believe it!! I have a song for every mood imaginable, every occasion, and every aspect of my life so I'll just narrow it down simply to my favorite artists & why cause if I specified songs I'd be here all day. Lol.

Let me first say I absolutely love old school artists such as the Stylistics, Commodores, Jackie Wilson, Etta James, Donny Hathaway (Lord knows his voice was as smooth as silk!!!!), Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, & of course Prince. Their music will always be classic and have a special place in my heart for me to jam and groove to.

Ya'll know I'm from the south and am so proud of it so I have to listen to a little Kilo Ali, Outkast, Pastor Troy, old school T.I., & Cee-lo Green (Goodie Mob) every once in a while.

Lloyd, Lil Wayne, Plie, Jeezy, David Banner, Joc, & Killer Mike - Just because I support my southern artists!

Carl Thomas, Sade, Usher, Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Shai, Anthony Hamilton, Jodeci, Ne-yo, D'Angelo, Amel Larreiux (sp) & Raphael Saadiq when I'm feeling sexy, special, or getting ready for that someone special.

Young Jeezy, Plies, T-pain, Jay-Z, Estelle, 50, & Dream- when I'm ready to go out & party

Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith (Love them!!!) One Republic, Ashlee Simpson, Pink, Green Day, Jimi Hendrix, Daughtry, Gym Class Heroes, Kelly Clarkson, M.I.A., Pink Floyd & Madonna - when I feel like a rockstar!!

Beyonce, Keyshia Cole, Mariah Carey, Jazmine Sullivan & Jennifer Hudson - when I wanna sing my ass off & really feel the music I'm listening to.

Astrud Gilberto- Just because

Common, Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Lupe Fiasco, Jill Scott, Brand Nubian & The Roots - when I'm feeling eclectic.

Celia Cruz, La Lupe, Proyecto Uno, La India, & Mark Anthony when I want to let lose & get back to my roots.

Kayne West, Pharrell, Nas, Justin Timberlake - just because they're great artists.

Whew!!! That was a mouth full. Ya'll got me ready to turn up the speakers and jam!!! Heyyyyyy party over here!! Lol. Take care folks.
